Melbourne - Seventh City Of The Empire is a travel poster for Victorian Railways circa 1930 by Percy Trompf. The poster depicts Melbourne's first skyscraper, The Manchester Unity Building on the corner of Swanston & Collins Streets. At 12 storeys high and topped with a decorative tower, it was Melbourne's tallest building at the time and contained Melbourne's first escalator. I love this image, I worked on the sixth floor of the Manchester Unity building for four years and I love a good bit of Australiana.
