Melbourne - Seventh City Of The Empire is a travel poster for Victorian Railways circa 1930 by Percy Trompf. The poster depicts Melbourne's first skyscraper, The Manchester Unity Building on the corner of Swanston & Collins Streets. At 12 storeys high and topped with a decorative tower, it was Melbourne's tallest building at the time and contained Melbourne's first escalator. I love this image, I worked on the sixth floor of the Manchester Unity building for four years and I love a good bit of Australiana especially tea towels.
This beautiful range of tea towels is printed on a 100% Panama weave cotton.
Each tea towel measures 70cm x 50cm and includes a woven hanging loop and full care instructions.
Designed, printed and sewn in Australia.
