Magnolia Tea Towel
Magnolias 1855 - from the book Illustrations of Himalayan Plants published in London in 1855, these Magnolia campbellii were illustrated by John Ferguson Cathcart and engraved for the book by Walter Hood Finch. Botanical enthusiast Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817-1911) a collaborator of Charles Darwin, explored the remotest valleys and mountains of eastern Nepal and Sikkim in search of new Rhododendrons. He was the author of the book which owes its success to the great beauty of its hand coloured lithographs.
