The Paint Me mask contains specifically selected natural botanicals for radiant fresh skin. We use Australian Kaolin Clay and French Green Clay to formulate a gentle yet powerful clay base to draw out impurities and soothe the skin. We've combined powerful botanical essential oils to detox and nourish the skin.

Ylang Ylang essential oil - Acne sufferers might wish that dry winter weather means no more pimples, but that just isn't the case. Personally, I've noticed it's even harder to treat breakouts in the winter — but ylang ylang essential oil is definitely helping. Understanding what products are simply going to dry you out and the ones that will control and balance the production of oil is what's going to keep your skin smooth AND clear. Ylang ylang has been used for centuries in Southeast Asian skincare and medicine and we can't get enough of it in our bodycare products!

Jasmine essential oil - Because it possesses effective antiseptic and antiviral properties, jasmine essential oil can safely be applied to acne-prone and problem skin to help prevent infection from taking hold. Several studies have confirmed Jasmine essential oils wound healing capabilities. As well as its ability to treat infections from wounds, jasmine oil also clears and soothes the mind too!

Bergamot essential oil - Bergamot is a natural antibiotic and disinfectant, so adding it to any skin care formula helps ward off microorganisms—no need for potentially dangerous, chemical preservatives. In addition, this antibacterial action makes the oil great for those with acne, as it helps to kill the bacteria on the skin before it can react to create blackheads and pimples. Bergamot has an added property of helping to control excess oil production in the skin, attacking acne from two sides. Bergamot is also an antiseptic, meaning that it encourages wound healing and skin regeneration. If you have old acne scars, eczema, psoriasis, or even cold sores, this oil can help the skin heal faster. Even better, it can help prevent new scars and fade old ones. In fact, bergamot is a reputed treatment for scars and stretch marks, as it helps regulate the distribution of skin’s natural pigment—melanin—while evening out skin tone.

Suggested Use
Mix up to 1 tablespoon of your clay with 1-3 tablespoons of your chosen liquid until desired consistency is reached in a non-metallic container with a non-metallic mixing utensil (or your fingers!). Apply a thin layer to your face, avoiding your eyes, and allow to dry for 5-20 minutes; Keep your time shorter for sensitive skin, and go longer for deeper detoxification. Remove your clay mask with a warm, wet towel, or simply rinse off with water over your sink.

What Should Be The Proper Way To Apply A Clay Mask?
First and foremost, completely remove all traces of makeup. If you’re wearing makeup, use a good makeup remover to completely get rid of it. Next, cleanse your face with warm water and a foaming cleanser or facial soap to eliminate all traces of makeup remover, leftover makeup and impurities. You want to apply a clay mask on a really clean face. The warm water will soften the plugs within the pores (contrary to the internet, pores do not open or close). It helps to steam your complexion prior to the application of the clay mask if pores are too compacted.
Second, apply the clay mask evenly all over the face, neck and décolleté. Avoid the skin around the eyes. This skin is quite thin and can get damaged easily. The mask you’re applying is also an exfoliant, make sure to scrub in a circular motion while applying it.
Third, let the mask completely dry on your skin if you can (recommended), otherwise remove as the thinner layers dry up.
Fourth, to properly remove the mask just splash enough warm water on face and with the fingertips give a gentle massage scrubbing in a circular motion until the clay is completely re-hydrated, rinse off and pat dry with a face towel. Do not use any soap or cleanser after or to remove it.
Fifth, apply a toner to prepare your skin for the best absorption of moisturisers or facial oils. Not all toners are formulated equally and some although called toners, are just refreshing waters formulated to provide some temporary hydration to the skin.

During the application of a clay mask an exchange happens, the skin absorbs the minerals from the clay which provides that radiant look we all love, while the clay absorbs the excess oil and impurities from the skin. When they aren’t allowed to completely dry the exchange doesn’t happen, resulting in a poor experience and little results.

How Many Times A Week Should I Apply A Clay Mask?
Clay masks shouldn’t be applied daily. It’s recommended they be applied no more than 1-2 times a week. More often and they could irritate the skin. Less than that and no benefits would be visible.
